Kananaskis Village – A must visit location.

with one comment

It is March break for my three daughters so, we decided to take a week off to get away. We were undecided on where to visit and a friend of mine suggested we go to The Delta Lodge at Kananaskis. His brother works in Engineering and Maintenance and his sister-in-law works as in Management there. We quickly checked it out and booked our trip. What a hidden gem. Tucked in the Canadian Rockies between Calgary and Canmore (about 30 – 40 minutes east of Banff), Kananaskis Village seems to be away from all the tourist traffic of Banff and Jasper but, is easily as beautiful. We arrived to find that a loft suite was ready for us and it is great. As I write this piece, Dale is sitting on the sofa with her feet up. I just lit a fire for her. Megan is next to her reading as usual. Kyla and Jenna are upstairs (the loft) watching TV and paying a new game Jenna has. The dog is curled up next to me on the floor in the dining room area. We have our own private balcony and two full bathrooms. Did I mentioned this is a great place to get away yet. We had lunch with some photographer friends for the past two days and spent today walking around Banff just sight seeing and shopping. We still have five or six days left on our trip but, for now here are some samples of what we have seen. If you are looking to get away, head west on Hwy 1 (from Calgary) when you get to Hwy 40 turn south. You will come to one of Canada’s treasures, Kananaskis Village. Oh and before in finish, Graham Family you rock for suggesting this location and for making sure we got look after once we arrived. Thanks for reading and until next time Happy Shooting.

All of the above were taken at the Delta Lodge or on the Village Rim Trail, which is about a twenty-minute walk around the Lodge grounds.

The three photos above were taken during our day trip into Banff. All happen to be shot on the Minnewanka Loop, which heads into Lake Minnewanka. I recommend the drive.

Again thanks for visiting and Happy Shooting.
