Mike McDonald – A Newfoundland Musical Treasure

leave a comment »

Recently while we (my family and I) were in Norris Point, Newfoundland and Labrador we wandered into The Cat Stop (a great little eatery down on the water front). It was late afternoon and while passing the time, a Musician came in to set-up some equipment. We quickly learned that from 4 to 6 pm there was live music going to be performed. The Musician was Mike McDonald. Mike opened with a version of “Wish you were here” by Pink Floyd. He continued with several others great pieces. What really set the whole performance for me was his version of “Norwegian Wood” by The Beatles. It may have been the best version I have heard. We purchased a CD from Mike and he signed it for us. The CD is of The Catch a group which Mike performs with. The title of the CD is “falldownlaughing”. I would really recommend it and I think you should watch for some new stuff from Mike. I believe a solo CD is in the works. I can’t wait. Great stuff Mike, keep it up. For everyone else, here are a couple of pics of Mike. Thanks for stopping by, check out Mike’s work and as always Happy Shooting.
