Lest We Forget 2010 – Part II

with one comment

Part II of my five-day series of post for Remembrance Day. Kyla’s second three images from her trip to the European Battlefields. As I write this short piece I am thinking of two people, my neighbour who is a Canadian Forces Ranger (and one of those IED specialist like “The Hurt Locker” and a friend from high schools husband, who is a Pilot with the US Air Force. He, the Pilot, is currently working in the middle east. It is thankless work these guys do but they do it. As my high school friend put it “Service above Self”, what a statement. I am also thinking about all those who seem to not be supportive of our Armed Forces. They don’t agree with some of the missions fought by these brave men and women. I get it, believe me, but don’t blame the Solders for the issues. I heard it put this way “I support our Forces Personal just not the idiots who put them in harm’s way”. So, remember the Fallen and be thankful for those who continue to serve. Thanks again for being here and as always Happy Shooting.

The Vimy Memorial – It looks so peaceful with sheep feeding in the open field – not so peaceful for those who fought there.

One of the many visited War Cemetery by Kyla.

A Second War Cemetery visit.

  1. Thank you Lee. Tell Kyla her pictures are beautiful.
Remembrance Day has always been difficult for me even as a child. My paternal grandfather fought in the First Great War (Navy) but he didn’t talk about it. This year is especailly difficult because Richard is in Afghanstan.
