A Girl & her Guitars!

with 2 comments

Tonight we decided to take some photos while Kyla practiced her guitar playing. I was trying to capture her inner rock star, lol. Kyla has been doing a great job at playing and to help she is listening to a large variety of music. I think a broad range of music will make her a better player. She really likes Jack White’s playing (I see octave and distortion pedals in the future) but, she has been listen to several different guitar players. The range of what she is listening to goes from Led Zeppelin to James Taylor and Cat Stevens (with The White Stripes, The Dead Weather, Pink Floyd and the Beatles thrown in for good measure). Kyla seems to have adopted my Yamaha electric guitar and her mom’s Yamaha 12 string acoustic. She has added those to her own Epiphone DR200CE acoustic/electric (she has named is Abby). She is using two different amplifiers, a small Peavey (which I believe was once mine) and a Fender Stage 100. She is playing some crazy stuff and if you were near by our house you could hear Dale asking her to turn it down quite often. I think she has her eye on a Red and Yellow Gibson Les Paul (we will see, I mean how many guitars can one person have?). For now she is quite content with all this stuff in her room (along with her MacBook and Garage band to do some recording). I have even heard some discussion about a Bass. So, tonight while she played, Megan and I grab two cameras (you can’t have enough cameras) and snapped away while Kyla did her thing. Here are Kyla’s favorites of what I captured. Maybe tomorrow we can show off Megan’s images. If I could only photograph as well as Kyla could play, that would be awesome. Enjoy what you see and imagine the sound of picking six strings. As always happy Shooting.

  1. Some nice shots Lee. I play an Epiphone Les Paul Special and a ’76 Fender P Bass myself. Nice to break out of the landscape mode sometimes and stretch your creative legs. Well done!
