Sunset on the Ingraham Trail

with one comment

The night after hiking the Prospector’s Trail with Jan, she and I took a short drive on the Ingraham Trail to do yet another sunset shoot. It was a great evening for me but, not so much for Jan. I ranted to her about multiple subjects while she drove. I’m sure it was great, lol. For me going on shoots with Jan is always good, great photography, great company and great conversation. With Jan driving she is the leader, she has a location in mind that is right along the highway. It has a beaver dam and she has been seeing the beavers there. I have never seen beavers there but, this night was different. We arrive to find one beaver swimming toward the dam. Once we get out of the truck, the beaver turns around and within a few seconds we hear a loud splash. Shortly after the that big splash, a second beaver arrives on the scene. The splash we heard was the first beaver slapping it’s tail on the water’s surface. The second beaver doesn’t like us being around anymore than the first did and this beaver also does the tail slapping. We shoot different things on both sides of the highway before moving on. Surprisingly neither of us captured the tail slapping ritual. After checking several other shoot locations we head back to Yellowknife. It was a great time. Here is a sample of what I saw. Enjoy, thanks for coming and as always, Happy Shooting.
